The **Construction Kit** takes the place of a weapon and is used to build structures (e.g. telenodes, medistations, turrets, etc.) =====Prerequisites===== __**Build Points (BPs)**__ With the exception of some rare servers with infinite allotments, each team gets a certain amount of BPs. The default amount if 100; however, the default base configuration for both teams leaves just 38 available. For humans, BPs are "power" that is supplied to structures from the reactor. For aliens, BPs are "sentience" that is used by the Overmind to control structures. Each structure takes up a certain amount, and they cannot be regained until said structure is either destroyed or deconstructed. __**Sudden Death**__ Most servers enter a mode called Sudden Death (SD) after a certain amount of time. While the SD configurations vary from server to server, they are usually based on the idea that teams are no longer allowed to build anything.(Often there is an exception for the Armoury, Medistation and Defence Computer to be replacement assuming that structure existed prior to SD. During SD, builders should probably swap their Construction Kit for a gun. ===== Techniques ===== __**Placement**__ Structures should always be placed where they are not easy to snipe. Advanced Dragoons can wipe out a reactor with ease if it is not placed out of sight. Defensive and utility structures should be built where they will actually be useful. An armory does no good if it's placed in the rafters. Turrets can't shoot anything if they're stuck behind a wall somewhere, or behind other structures. __**Pitfalls to avoid**__ Buildspamming is when a large amount of structures are clumped unnecessarily in useless places. This only serves to hamper their functionality. Spamming will probably get the culprit kicked. As well as serving no useful purpose, it eats BPs and leaves little or none for useful building. Blocking your teammates with poorly placed structures should be avoided, make sure the turrets do not affect movement around your base too much, or make people jump over them to exit medistation/telenodes. __**Defence**__ Since builders have no weapons (except the Blaster), they must be covered by a fighter if they are to build in an unprotected area. Even after they have placed the structure and retreated back to safety, the fighter should remain behind to defend it. In-progress structures cannot defend themselves, and aliens can easily destroy them before they're fully-formed. __**Repair**__ Damaged structures stay damaged unless repaired. To repair a structure, aim at it with the Construction Kit and hold the secondary fire key. This will repair the structure slowly. If a structure shows both an empty, red health bar and a lightning bolt, it's about to explode. The only way of preventing explosion is to deconstruct it.
